I’m a drummer and I know you guitar guys may hear things I don’t but to me the wah after has more tone it sounds more full.

I have heard since day 1 “Wah pedals really like to interact with the guitar directly” and ever since my wah has always been FIRST in the chain and it’s given me great results.

It just depends what sound you’re looking for. Each has its merits and debits.😉

It makes sense the before has the best sound really. The wah was coloring the tube scream after. It’s the same thing with pedal order and a volume pedal. Placing the volume pedal after the distortion then you phaser, reverb, delay allows the effects pedals to continue the input sound if you closed the volume pedal. Distortion, then wah, then volume pedal then effects.

I prefer with bare feet and longer toenails for best tone
